Baseball Hall of Fame

The baseball hall of fame is more than just a list of names of the greatest baseball players to ever play the game. I mean yes, a large allure of the baseball hall of fame is to honor the game’s greatest, and they devote an entire section to each player worthy of eternal honor. However, this is not the be all and end all of their existence. The baseball hall of fame serves as a museum of just under 40,000 items, three million books and documents, and 500,000 photographs. These can be from any particular player in any given moment, as to serve the purpose to document a complete history of the game rather than focus on the few that make it to enshrinement. The baseball hall of fame also contains a children’s museum known as “Sandlot Kids” which contains photographs of children with hall of famers, baseball artifacts, and interactive exhibits. The exhibits in the hall of fame run the gamut from the history of the hall of fame itself, to the history of baseball, to the experience of baseball from the role of women, African-American players, people from Caribbean nations, and where the game is today. There is also an online database for users who cannot make the trek over to Cooperstown. There are two rooms dedicated to specific players, one to Babe Ruth and another to Hank Aaron. The third floor of the hall examines the ballparks throughout history, the collection of records, artifacts from the World Series, and a collection of baseball cards.

As far as libraries are concerned, the baseball hall of fame contains a research center, a collection of archives, manuscripts, recorded media, and an online catalog. The baseball hall of fame holds a large assortment of various events, so log onto their website to see what they are up to today!
